On drop in coils, you will get a strange musty taste until the water gets worked out. It will dilute out any juice that gets in the coil so you wont get its full effect. You will also be vaporizing whatever additives are in the water (which is why they suggest using distilled water to clean coils in).

Yes chain vaping and heat are coil life shorteners. It's unfortunate, but 500 F is exceeding safe temperatures anyway (and I'm not sure you are using a TC capable coil head, so you're going to need to avoid all that until you know what you are doing.

I could not BELIEVE the difference in my coil life (even over and above not vaping one setup so much) and I genuinely believe chain vaping is a HUGE factor in terms of coil life. If you enjoy chain vaping (I happen to at times) well getting another setup might help a LOT. As might using TC when you are vaping, if you have the means to do it.
