The nicotine is too strong
One of the things that can exacerbate vaping hiccups is using a high strength nicotine juice. Inhaling vapour that has a high nicotine concentration could also lead to coughing and spark a sore throat. It is when the nicotine somehow ends up in your stomach that the hiccups are triggered.

First sign of too much nicotine for me, got them when I tried the nic gum too.

BGabe Super Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

I don't know if too much nicotine is the issue. It used to happen to me when I smoked too and now it happens on occasion when I vape. But it seems to happen during the first few drags. Similar to what I experienced before. I've heard belching and hiccups is your bodies way of equalizing pressure.

Happened to me several times when I started. In my case it was when I overfilled the carto (I learned not to do that) and inhaled little spits of hot juice .

As the title says I have been having an annoying issue lately when vaping. I use mostly 2 techniques to vape, fill my mouth then inhale, and a direct lung inhale. The direct lung inhale is mostly used when I'm dripping to get a nice big flavor hit.

It happens often for me... I drink something and grab another mod /flavor in a lower nic varity.

Ohms Lawbreaker Super Member ECF Veteran

Smoking gave me them often, vaping not as much. Once I caught them with smoking, every cig inhale was a hiccup.

Funny you brought it up. I was just telling my wife the other night that hiccups is what I don't miss the most about analogs. My after dinner cig gave me hiccups every single night. Been vaping exclusively for 2 weeks now and only got them once.

This is a common symptom of a nicotine overdose and is frequently seen not only in Vaping but also during treatment with NRT products. I've had the hiccups from pretty much all the forms of NRT I've tried (gum, oral spray, nasal spray and film strips but not patches) and once or twice from Vaping.

bryman021 Senior Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

Nicotine overdose sounds like it could be whats happening to me. I started with and have been using 18mg since I started vaping. I just got into and started dripping 10-14 days ago. the hiccups is a fairly new side effect for me especially when I'm dripping the 18mg.
