Priming a coil simply means allowing time for e-liquid to fully saturate the wicking material in your coil head. This will stop the wick from burning when you activate the battery. This is also known as a 'dry hit', which tastes pretty awful. If you've experienced a dry hit, then you'll know what we mean!

What does priming coils mean?

Priming coils is a crucial step that cannot be missed. Priming a coil means to saturate the entire cotton wick with vape juice and letting it sit for at least 10 minutes before vaping. This process is meant to break in the new coil so vapers don't get a new cotton taste or dry hits.

What is priming and why is it important?

Priming is essentially making sure the coil you use is fully soaked in e-liquid. This lets it have a more consistent taste, minimizing popping and dry hits . The design on some newer models takes longer for the e-liquid to be absorbed when it’s poured directly into the liquid tank—which makes priming all the more important.

How long does it take to Prime an atomizer?

Usually, pouring the e-liquid directly into the tank takes about 15 minutes to be ready, but priming reduces this time to less than 5 minutes. If you have a sub-ohm atomizer head, it’s almost essential to go through the priming process since sub-ohm coils operate at a resistance of less than 1.0 ohm, drawing more power from the battery.

What does priming a pod mean?

In short, priming an atomizer coil simply means to pre-saturate the wicking material with e-liquid prior to first using it. This moisture will prevent the wicking material from overheating and burning. It also allows the wick to more fluidly and uniformly absorb the e-liquid from the tank and deliver it to the coil.

How long should I wait to hit my vape?

Do Wait for A While Before Puffing Again. One of the biggest mistakes a beginner can commit is chain vape. Your wicks need to get saturated before you hit another vape. Generally, 15 to 30 seconds are enough before you take another hit, but you can wait longer, especially if you are experiencing dry hits more often.

Is priming a coil necessary?

Just like correctly adding in e-liquid and not overheating your device are important for safe use, priming your coils is important to ensure you don't burn it out before you've properly used it. Once you've changed your coil and inserted a new one, it will be dry, which is why it's so susceptible to burning.

Why does my vape crackle?

The crackle you tend to hear from a vape is the sound of vape juice evaporating inside the pen. This happens as the liquid is sucked through from the tank and touches the heating coil, turning into vapour.

Why is my coil burning after 1 day?

If you vape at a wattage that's too high for you coil head, your e-liquid will vaporise too quickly. When this happens, the wick can't re-saturate quickly enough, so the coil ends up burning the wick which causes that unpleasant burnt taste.

Why is my vape burning my throat?

Vape Juice Too Weak Along with vape liquid being too strong, you could also experience a sore throat if your e-juice is too weak. That's because vaping an e-liquid with a lower strength than you're used to can cause nicotine withdrawal and one of the side-effects is a sore throat.

What does MTL mean in a smoker?

MTL stands for ‘mouth to lung’ and these coils operate higher than 1 ohm. They’re the most common for those trying to quit smoking. To prime these, it’s even simpler. Step 1: You need to put the new coil in as normal, and make sure the tank has a good amount of liquid in, with the tank almost full.

Why prime a vape?

Vapor flavor intensity is also amped up when the wick is primed. Because the cotton is saturated with e-liquid before the first hit, users are given an intense rush of e-juice vapor flavor from the beginning of their vape session. They do not have to take a few dry hits before hitting a flavor groove, they can simply prime and go.

What Does It Mean to Prime Coils?

The simplest definition of priming an atomizer’s coil is saturating the it’s cotton with e-liquid before using the vape. Pre-saturating the cotton can be done either outside of the atomizer, or with the coil already in place. The most important part of priming is that the entire wick gets saturated with e-liquid. If the wick is dry, it will produce burnt hits and will keep the vape from performing at an optimum level.

Why prime coils?

This process of saturating a fresh coil in e-liquid prevents burnt hits and provides top quality vapor flavor. It is so important for the coil’s longevity and for the user’s overall vaping experience. It prevents burnt hits and provides intense vapor flavor while ensuring a longer lasting coil.

Why is it important to prime a coil?

It is easy to see why priming a coil is so important. It extends the lifetime of the coil, as well as keeps e-liquid tasting fresh and the quality of the vape high. The process of priming can be a little tricky for beginners, so here are step by step instructions on how to properly prime an atomizer coil.

What happens when a vape coil is broken?

Once the coil is broken in, the vape is ready for use at whatever settings the user wants. Users can continue vaping like usual knowing that their coil was adequately primed.

Why do you need to pre-saturate your atomizer coil?

Pre-saturating an atomizer’s coil helps prolong the life of the coil and gives users the best tasting e-juice experience possible. Saturating the wick with e-liquid before vaping ensures that the wicking material will not overheat during use, preventing burnt hits and maintaining a top quality vape.

When using a new coil for the first time, is it important to break it in?

When using a new coil for the first time, it is important to break it in. Users shouldn’t start firing at full power and highest temperature right off the bat. Start vaping with a new coil at a lower temperature and a lower power for a few hits and steadily increase until the desired temperature/power is reached. This makes it so e-liquid comes up to the coil from the tank, fully saturating the coil and preparing it for higher intensity vaping.

How to prime a vape coil?

How to prime a new coil for tanks: 1 Grab the fresh coil out of the box 2 Drip a couple of drops of e-liquid on the wicking holes and inside the coil head 3 Reassemble the vape tank and fill it with your choice of vape juice 4 Screw the tank on your vaping device and set it aside for at least 10 minutes 5 After the 10 minutes, inhale on the drip tip of the tank without firing 6 Adjust the wattage on your vape mod to the lowest recommended wattage resistance then hold on the fire button slowly and inhale 7 Gradually increase your wattage setting until you find your optimal range

Screw the tank on your vaping device and set it aside for at least 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes, inhale on the drip tip of the tank without firing.

Can you adjust wattage on a vape?

Pod systems do not have options to adjust the wattage, so just vape shorter puffs to break in the coil. If you take a long hit with a new coil it could burn it. So remember to start with shorter puffs!

What does it mean when a vape coil is over primed?

An over primed coil will give off a gurgling sound (and feel) when you try to draw on your vape. As you can imagine this leaking and gurgling leads to spitting back. You'll be getting splashes and “spits” of your vape liquid when you're trying to use your vape.

What does priming a coil mean?

What happens if you over-prime?

You might think you can never put too much e-liquid into priming a coil, but you’d be wrong. You can, and it's easier to do than you think. Not only that, it can really mess up your vaping experience.

How long does it take for a vape to absorb liquid?

It should take anywhere between 10 and 15 minutes to absorb and be ready for use.

How to moisten a vape coil?

On the side of the coil, you should see a small bit of exposed cotton. Lightly moisten the wick with only one to two drops of your vape liquid.

What is a heatsink in vaping?

PG: Propylene glycol, commonly known as PG, is an ingredient used in near-all e-liquid bases, along with vegetable glycerine (VG). E-juice high in PG offers a strong throat hit and great flavor.

What does mAh mean in vaping?

mAh: This is an abbreviation of “milliampere hour,” the unit at which power is measured over a period of time. In vaping, it’s used to tell you how much electrical capacity e-cigarette batteries have.

What happens when e-liquid is able to escape the tank?

Leaking/Leakage: This is what happens when e-liquid is able to escape the tank, either through loose seals or a wide-open airflow. Leakage can just be a few drops or the entire tank, and it’s a common vaping problem.

What is DTL in vaping?

Direct to Lung (DTL): A method of inhaling where the vapor is drawn directly into the lungs, instead of held in the mouth and then inhaled (mouth-to-lung vaping). Vaping this way can cause a harsher throat hit if you use high-strength nicotine e-juice, so it’s typically favored by sub-ohm vapers.

What is battery in e-cigarette?
