What amp batteries do I need for vape?

The amp limit (or the “maximum continuous current” rating) of a battery tells you how much current it can provide: anything 20 A or over is suitable for most vapers.

What voltage should I be vaping at?

If the flavor is more important to you than vapor production, then decrease your voltage a bit until you find the sweet spot, try vaping anywhere around 2.3 – 3.5 volts. However, if you're looking for decent clouds and continued usability, adjust your variable voltage accordingly.

What setting should my vape be on?

Many people agree that 420 degrees Fahrenheit or 216 degrees Celsius is the sweet spot. You get as much flavor as possible without feeling the warmth of the vapor. If you want to add even more flavor, try a temperature between 425 and 450 degrees Fahrenheit or 218 and 232 degrees Celsius.

Is higher mAh better for vaping?

New e-cigarette users often confuse a battery's mAh rating with its voltage. But, given the same voltage – standard e-cigarette voltage is 3.7 volts – a battery with a higher mAh rating does NOT deliver more power, it just lasts longer.

How do I choose a good vape battery?

When choosing a vape battery for your mod, it's important to pick one which best suits your vaping needs. Batteries with higher Milliamp Hours (battery life) tend to have a lower discharge rate (lower Amperage, or how much power they can deliver at once). This makes them more suitable for lower wattage devices.

How do I know what wattage to vape at?

Once you know your coil's wattage rating, start at the very bottom wattage. Then, gradually turn it up by a watt or two at a time, taking an inhale in-between. If your vape becomes too harsh or hot or tastes burnt, you know it's a little too high, so turn the wattage back down.

Why can't I taste my vape?

Vaping can sometimes cause a dry mouth simply by requiring so much mouth breathing (inhaling a vape), which can dry up saliva. When we don't have enough saliva, the ability to taste is almost non-existent. Flavor fatigue is another culprit behind vape tongue resulting in you not tasting your e-juice.

Can you vape at a lower wattage?

If you want to vape at a lower wattage and get great flavour, but still want a really good throat hit, simply choose a vape juice with a higher nicotine strength. A lower wattage when combined with a high resistance coil and a higher nicotine strength will give you a really good throat hit, great for new vapers.

Why are above ohm vapes so popular?

The reason for which above ohm resistances remain popular with mouth to lung vaping is due to the restrictive draw these devices can offer and the similarities with actual cigarettes.

What resistances do you use for vaping?

People who prefer mouth to lung vaping are usually the ones who use standard resistances (above the 1 Ohm limit) and those who prefer direct lung inhale use sub-ohm resistances (below the 1 Ohm limit).

Why do you need a sub ohm coil?

Because it vaporizes a lot more e-liquid, together with the big clouds, it also delivers a bigger quantity of nicotine. This is why, in most cases, if you're used to vaping on 12mg for instance, switching to a sub ohm coil directly implies lowering the concentration to 6mg or even 3mg. Taking a 12mg puff on a 0.3 Ohm RDA could make you feel very light headed so if it doesn't feel right, go for a lower concentration.

What is temperature control on a mod?

Many of the newer generation mods offer a feature called 'temperature control', which works with Nickel or Titanium coils and gives the user the option to set a desired valued between 200 – 600F. These coils generally have a sub ohm resistances and fire as low as 0.05 Ohms. Because the user can set a desired vape temperature, it has total control on how cool or warm he or she wants the vapor to be, and the feature also prevents dry hits.

What is the difference between lung and mouth vaping?

And speaking about the different styles of vaping, we have two main categories of e-smokers – the ones who prefer mouth to lung hits and the ones who prefer lung hits. Mouth to lung vaping is just like puffing on an actual cigarette, with the vapor going first into the user's mouth and then lungs; while direct lung vaping means inhaling the vapor straight into the lungs.

Is vaping on a sub ohm or above ohm?

There are still people out there who prefer vaping on above ohm resistances, and their number is probably greater than that of e-smokers using sub ohm devices. While the amount of vapor produced is not as massive as with a sub ohm resistance, some people are more than satisfied with the whole experience and wouldn't trade it for something else.

What Ohm Resistance Should I Use In My tank?

When we first wrote this post, we used to refer people to the chart above.

How to get the perfect vape experience?

After all, with most entry-level vape kits, all you need to do is: Check what wattage you can use with the coil in your device. Adjust your wattage and airflow until you get the vapour, flavour and throat hit you need. Some people want to know more to get the perfect vaping experience.

How to get a vapour hit?

At its simplest level, it’s simply a matter of adjusting the voltage or wattage of the battery until you get the vapour, flavour and throat hit you desire. You can also experiment with using different resistance coils and combining them with different voltages/wattages.

Why do vapes burn out faster?

You will need to increase the voltage to increase the wattage and get a better vape. Because lower resistance coils use more wattage, they tend to generate more heat. This means they often burn out quicker than a higher resistance coil would.

What affects vapour and throat hit?

The resistance of your coil is not the only thing that affects vapour, flavour and throat hit. It also depends on the amount of power flowing through your coil. There are two common types of vape batteries which allow different amounts of power to flow through your coil. These are variable voltage and variable wattage.

How many volts does a vape battery have?

They provide nominally 3.7 volts of power, 4.2 volts when fully charged and slowly discharge when used. Once the vape battery is discharged below approx 3 volts, they must be charged again.

What is the circuit board on a vape battery?

Batteries have a small circuit board, usually on the bottom of the vape battery, that stops the charging or discharge of the battery in certain circumstances, such as Over-Charge, Over-Discharge and Short-Circuit. These tend to be slightly longer because of the circuitry and are normally classed as ICR.

What is the difference between a mechanical and regulated mod?

A mechanical mod takes power DIRECTLY from the vape battery, which means it’s important to know that the battery is capable of providing the current required to fire the coil.

How many charges does a vape battery need?

Approximate number of recharges a vape battery can undergo before it’ll no longer hold a charge. Duty cycles can be as high as 500 charges but will vary depending on the specific battery type.

How to calculate ohms in battery?

Understanding Ohms Law is a vital part of battery safety. Take the discharge rate (the amps), divide it by your voltage level by coil resistance (ohms) and never exceed this rating. For more information, please see our Ohms Law guide or our Ohms Law Calculator.

Can you damage a vape battery?

Without an understanding of vape battery dynamics and Ohms law, you could end up damaging the battery. Or worse, damaging your fingers!

What are Amps?

Amps, or amperes, are used to measure the amount of current flowing through your device. As it relates to vaporizers, you want to know how many amps are being pulled from your batteries. This is because your batteries are rated up to a specific amperage, beyond which you could be drawing too much current, potentially damaging the battery.

What is the most important thing to know about sub-ohm vaping?

If you’ve been curious about the world of sub-ohm vaping there is a lot to learn. One of the most important elements you need to understand is Ohm’s Law. You may have already learned about Ohm’s Law when it came to wrapping your first coils, but it also plays an important part in keeping your device and batteries safe as you reach for more powerful builds.

How many amps does a 12V ohm coil need?

To get the amperage, divide 12V/0.8 ohms = 15 Amps. In this case, you will need a battery of 15 Amps or higher to match the maximum draw from the coil. It is always recommended to get a higher capacity battery (at least by 2A) so you have enough headroom on the amperage.

How do mechanical mods work?

There are 2 main types of mods that are used in vaping. Mechanical mods work in a truly manual design, where there is no resistance between the coil and the battery. This means that the draw of electric current (amperes) that is exerted by the coil is directly transferred to the battery.

How to find Ohm's law?

Since this is the simplest to explain, we’ll get it out of the way quickly. Ohm’s Law is V = I x R where V is voltage, I is amperage and R is resistance. Using basic algebraic principles, you can easily plug in your voltage and divide by your coil resistance to get your amps.

How much voltage does a 150W battery need?

For instance, a 150W device with two batteries means you have a 75W load on each battery. To determine your voltage you will need to figure out what the minimum voltage rating of your device is. Most of today’s devices have a minimum voltage of 3.2V per battery before they cut off.

How many amps does 75W/3.2V have?
