So since I started using mechanical mods the first batteries that I used were Sony vtc4's. Now that these batteries seem to be obsolete and with all the fakes floating around I bought a few alternative batteries. I have a few MXJO's and they seem to work just fine although I've heard they are just LG re-wraps.

I use the Orbtronic sx30. Same specs as a vtc4...some speculate that it's a re-wrap, others say it's an original manufacture. Whatever the case, they work great.

I've been using them for a couple of weeks and find them to be just fine. I have them in a few mechs and box mods and they hold up nicely. I would rather have a bunch of Sonys, but for the reasons you mentioned, I'll stick with the Smurfs. Good batts!!

Next time I'm due for new batteries, I'll stick with the Xtar 30A's... they are the re-branded VTC4s. There are other good batteries out there, but I've been happy with the VTCs, so I'll just stick with them (even if they've been renamed)

I've heard very good things about the 25r's even in high current situations, and picked them up for my first mech. I have no other batteries to compare to (well, green panasonics, but not for this application), but they've worked very well for me. They can hold a charge for quite some time at 0.4 ohms, in my experience.
