How is PG absorbed?

PG is absorbed by the body via ingestion, inhalation or injection (subcutaneous and intravenous). It is essentially metabolised in the liver and, to a lesser degree, in the kidneys. It is then converted into lactic acid and into pyruvic acid. These elements, naturally present in the body, are required to produce the energy that the body needs (Krebs cycle). In a healthy adult, most PG is metabolised or excreted by the body 2 to 4 hours after uptake. 12 to 45% of non-metabolised PG is excreted in urine [5-7].

How long does it take for PG to return to normal?

The patients’ condition improved after treatment was discontinued. Studies on the administration of large IV doses of PG show that the side-effects (metabolic disorders) are temporary (return to normal after 24 to 72 hours after discontinuing treatment) [4, 5, 29].

What happens when a gas evaporates?

Is PG a molecule?

Propylene glycol [ 1 ], or PG, is a synthetic, water-soluble, substance that is non-toxic and easily metabolized when ingested in small amounts. PG may indeed be toxic if it is consumed in high volumes, but the truth is so are many other household items that we use every day. In actual fact, PG is present in the world around us, even if one doesn’t vape at all or doesn’t spend any time near anyone who does vape. It is used widely in pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics and even anti-freeze. So the question becomes whether PG is inhaled in safe or unsafe volumes by vapers.

Does PG cause coughing?

Vapers who wish to reduce the potential harm possible through PG inhalation can simply minimize the amount of it that they inhale. Being fairly new I'm doing a lot of ordering of juices from different vendors. I like that many of them give me the options to pick my PG to VG ratio but am just not well versed on what a preferred ratio is so I've been ordering anywhere from 70/30 PG/VG to 50/50.

Used to have 80VG/20PG - lots of vapor, but I started to miss that 'throat hit' you get when smoking analogs. The big amount of VG also took away from the flavor of the juice, so that bothered me.

I like 50/50 as well but at 1st I used 80% PG. It's just to harsh to stay on for me though.

Chimney34 Ultra Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

Hey Roonies! I vape generally at 70/30 too. I really don't know why aside from the fact that I purchased some 50/50 once & the flavor wasn't quite the same. It was also premixed at my closest B&M so I didn't have the option to get extra flavor shots. I have seen several posts about people having allergies to both pg & vg.

I tend to not like a lot of throat hit, preferring a smoother vape. Therefore I use a 50/50 ratio, occassionally higher Vg mix.

Levels of Nicotine in E-juices

The broad concentration ranges of nicotine present in standard e-juices in the market today have usually raised questions of equivalency – “what nicotine concentration in an e-juice should we check and look for if we would prefer our vaping experience to be at least roughly equivalent to that experienced after a given number of cigarettes?”

Strength of Nicotine in E-juices

Nicotine strengths listed below for e-juices are the milligram numbers of nicotine per milliliter inside a bottle. This statement means that a 10ml bottle of 6mg nicotine e-liquid would consist of 60mg of nicotine (i.e., 6mg x 10ml).

Nicotine Levels: Vaping VS Smoking

As already illustrated earlier, the nicotine levels that provide any individual smoker with that similar vaping experience in terms of adequate satisfaction from nicotine cravings can be considered inexact science.
