when you say dermatologist took a skin sample, nothing came up. What does that mean? Every skin disorder has a diagnosis, whether it be acne, eczema, psorriasis, etc. What did she / he say it was or did it test non conclusive? i.e not even acne?

That's a really powerful corticosteroid to prescribe after test results that had "nothing come up". It's something like 500 times stronger than cortisone that's found in over the counter creams and some prescription level stuff.

It's very possible that you're having side effects of stoping smoking. I personally had a friend breakout after stoping for a couple of weeks. He started taking extra good care of his skin (lots of Clinique stuff ) and it went away around the one month mark. Try taking good care of your skin and report back if it helps.

I've had skin problems for the last 15 years or so and have been through a myriad of different doctors from Allergists, GP's and Dermatologists. Dishydrotopic eczema was the original diagnosis and there is very little that I have found that helps. Its basically little fluid filled vesicles or cysts that develop a couple layers under the skin.
