i li just tried organic Japanese cotton and Yuck! Should I have boiled it? Won't the nice lined-up fibers be messed up? The store said the stuff tastes great. Am I missing something?

Some more info would be nice maybe something want done right like I've notice you want to use a little less than regular cotton since it wicks way better.

Perhaps I just got a bad batch. It looks organic: little specs of cotton hull, slightly brown color (un bleached). Should I pre-burn my wire? I fire it with the battery to tweak my coil shape and tightness. Do I need to burn it too?

ErnieKim Super Member Verified Member ECF Veteran

I pulled it out, put in my boiled rayon and wow;,back to normal. I should find out where the cotton came from. Perhaps bad distributor.

It came in two-in squares. I am waiting to hear back on the brand so I don't get it again. I tried it again, primed it and same problem. Where do you get you cotton from?

I don't. I figure I'm taking some risks involved with the whole vaping thing. I've also seen concern about potentially putting the minerals from the water into the cotton. I just go with the easiest approach.... I'll admit partly b/c of laziness...ha.

I steam mine, no boiling. I just got a cheap veggie steamer from Target for the job. Works great and the cotton comes out fluffier.
