Other tobacco products — like vaping — can affect how you smell or taste. Chewing tobacco can also affect your sense of taste. Quitting tobacco use is a surefire way to get you back to smelling and tasting normally (and being healthy) again.

Vaping leads to dehydration and also dries your mouth, both of which can diminish your taste buds. Smoking or vaping can also cause a stuffy nose and negatively impact your ability to smell, and being able to smell goes hand in hand with your ability to taste.

You could be sensitive to something in the juice. The most common sensitivity is to PG, but there are others. Have you tried reduced PG juice? One cheap way to check is get a bottle of VG from your local drug store or health food store or Walmart or wherever (you want food grade) and try vaping some straight and see if it helps.

Can loss of taste or smell be something other than COVID-19?

We’ve all been there. You aren’t feeling well and you notice that you can’t taste or smell anything. Many things can cause this — it’s not just COVID-19. Whatever the cause, the reason for losing the sense of taste or smell often has to do with abnormalities on the surfaces of the nose or tongue — or the nerves supplying those surfaces.

How long does loss of taste and smell last?

Not being able to smell or taste like you used to can be frustrating. Tasting your favorite foods and smelling fresh air makes life more enjoyable. Plus, the ability to smell harmful fumes can protect you from danger. But the duration of symptoms will depend on the cause, and it’s different for each person.

The bottom line

Not being able to smell or taste can be stressful, regardless of the cause. COVID-19 is only one of many possible causes of smell and taste dysfunction. And for most, there are ways to get you back to sniffing and tasting like normal again. If you suddenly experience a loss of taste or smell and think you have COVID-19, make sure to get tested.

Does vaping smell?

For me, yes, it does. If it’s flavored, you will definitely stink, as will the place you had vaped in. The vapor also feels slightly heavy in your lungs. Try breathing in the smoke from a charcoal fire. It’s kind of like that, without the smell. I also find that vapers’ stench project further than a cigarette smoker’s, but then, they do carry vapes, which consistently emit anyway.

Do you smell vapes?

However, most people are desensitized to such “fragrances” and are not able to detect the vapor either. So, for them, they will not smell or feel it. Most people that come into regular contact with vape (which is often) desensitize very quickly.

Can a thrush infection heal?

Another sign of a “thrush” infection is having cracks at the corners of your mouth that won’t heal , despite use of Blistex; a sore tongue is another common symptom.
