So I feel like I have a big old lump in my throat - you think this is from the PG/VG content or some sort of reaction to PG? Overall I feel great, no other real noticeable nicotine withdrawal symptoms, trying to drink tons of water, etc. just a strange throat sensation.

I had been having the same type of swollen throat reaction and a feeling of a hair on the back of my tongue gag feeling off and on for several years when I would dip or smoke analog cigs. All that went away once I switched to ecigs with the exception of when I drip too much juice in my ecig and end up getting a mouth full.
