Can you tell your dentist you vape?

If you’ve told the dentist you vape I imagine it would be patient doctor confidentiality, if the doctor recognizes it without you admitting it it will probably be told to the parent. But I’m not an expert on this. The thing is if you’re not an adult you are doing this vaping thing against the laws that govern children to not partake in. People are rebellious in nature but to do so anyway is not healthy. And you have been warned and you know it’s best not too or you wouldn’t be asking this question. Right?

Does vaping affect gums?

Depends on the dentist (they are under no obligation to keep your secret if you’re underage) but vaping can DEFINITELY have bad effects on your gums and teeth and if your dentist knows you vape and suspects that it’s affecting your oral health (like they just found a bunch of cavities or your gums are showing signs of early disease) I wouldn’t count on them keeping your secret, but it really just depends on the dentist. You don’t necessarily have to tell them that you vape (though if you’re getting some kind of oral surgery that requires anesthesia you definitely need to).

Can a dentist tell you to stop vaping?

This depends on your age and if it is affecting your health. If you are above 18 in the United States, then no unless you sign a paper that you allow your doctor to talk to your parent (s). There is a doctor and patient confidentiality that doctors must hip hold unless it’s a risk to your health like abuse. However, say your gaping causes your teeth to root ( I don’t think this is possible but we don’t know the long term side effects of vaping. This is a symptom of long term smoking cigarettes) they will tell you to stop vaping, but they can not stop you from vaping. However if you are under 18, your parent (s) are still your legal guardian which means they can tell them. You can ask your dentist to not disclose that information, but if it’s a serious problem to your health I highly doubt they won’t tell your parent (s). If it’s not posing a big threat to your health then I believe you can ask them and they will tell you what they thing on the matter. Doctor are there to help you but also can’t force you to do anything.
