Yes, but only if the low wattage is within the minimum range. For example, my tfv8 coils range from 40 watts minimum to a maximum of 220 watts. If I vape at say 20 watts, my coils would last me a full year without replacement, but the obvious downside is the vapor production would be equal to a blu or a vuse cigalike. There would also be no flavor.

As long as the lower wattage isn't causing the coil to flood or gurgle (which could lead to leaking which could lead to problems eventually) then there's not problem vaping at a lower wattage. If you start sensing/feeling/hearing gurgling when you draw, you'll wan to up the wattage little by little until it doesn't gurgle.

Temp control attempts to keep a coil setup from "hot boxing" like a cigarette you take a bunch of quick drags from in a row. Watts does not.
