The answer is simple. A double/dual/two coil configuration evenly divides the heat between the coils. In other words, the additional coils double both the heat and vapor generation in the vape. Ultimately, stronger, stronger, and even more delicious clouds of vapor are produced in a bit less time compared to single coil vapes.

Full Answer

What is the difference between single coil and dual coil vape?

It is easy to infer that single coil vape vaporizes the e-juice rather slowly, but it also results in lower consumption of battery power. A dual coil vape, meanwhile, vaporizes fast – it creates more vapor but also consumes more battery power. To put the difference clearly, let’s discuss the pros and cons of the two systems.

What are vape coils and how do they work?

Similar to other vaping components, vape coils are just one of the names given. Also known as atomiser heads, or clearomisers; vape coils describe the element and mechanism that converts energy from your battery. The coil heats your e-liquid into a vaporised state ready for you to inhale.

Can You vape without a coil?

Are bigger coils better?

The size of a coil can influence the detection depth and sensitivity of a metal detector. A good rule of thumb is 'the larger the coil, the more ground you can cover and the deeper it can go'. This sounds like the be all and end all, but the extra depth comes at a price.

Do spaced coils give better flavor?

No matter spaced coils or contact coils, the flavor depends on the e-juices and atomizers. Meanwhile, wattage and heating wire material also effect the flavors.

Is more airflow better for coils?

A higher airflow will ensure a cooler cloud, but when you cool it down, you will lose a bit of flavour. Because of this, a higher airflow can decrease the amount of juice required, because it remains on the coils for longer. A lower airflow will give you more flavour from your e-liquid.

How many puffs can a coil last?

On average, a decently constructed coil for a sub-ohm tank should last you 4 days to 1 week. If you vape less because you cannot vape during work hours, or you do not vape throughout the day, then your coils are likely to last twice as long.

Does coil size matter vape?

Get the Right PG:VG Ratio As a general rule of thumb, an e-liquid that has a higher ratio of VG to PG will produce thicker vape clouds whereas an e-liquid with a higher ratio of PG to VG will deliver a harsher throat 'hit'. Some e-liquids are available with 100% VG.

Does less airflow burn coils?

Airflow doesn't affect coil life, either. The things that tend to shorten the life of a coil are poor wicking (we have some advice on wicking here), and/or flooding your coil. Over time, if you vape on a flooded coil, you will get a much faster build-up of gunk which will eventually ruin the coil.

What's the difference between 0.2 and 0.4 ohm coil?

The lower resistance 0.2 ohm coils allow higher wattage to be used. This said, in this case, the 0.4 ohm coils give much better flavour with the Cleito tank than the 0.2 ohm coils.

What is the difference between 0.8 and 1.2 ohm coil?

They are both suitable for MTL (mouth-to-lung), which is very rare, with the only difference being that the 0.8Ω puts out warmer vapor than the 1.2Ω coil.

Is more or less coils better in a mattress?

As we mentioned above, it does depend on the type of support your body needs. However, as a rule of thumb, adults or heavier sleepers should generally avoid mattresses with low coil counts as it's likely the mattress will be less supportive.

Does coil diameter affect?

If the diameter is large the spring will be stiffer, because spring constant is inversely proportional to diameter of coil. With an increase in diameter of the spring the spring constant will decrease. So hence we can conclude by saying that Yes, diameter does affect the spring constant.

When to replace the vape coil?

Generally, if you’re a heavy smoker you should consider changing the coil at least once per week, if you vape moderately then make it two weeks, and lastly, if you only vape from time to time, make sure to change your coils every 3-4 weeks.

The Mechanics of Bigger Clouds

The mechanics behind bigger clouds take several factors into consideration:

Coil Types

If you are comfortable with building your own coils, these are all coils that can, and will, produce massive clouds. As I previously stated, they will all be on a 3mm screw driver / coil jig. They’re all builds that I personally have run in competitions and are all classed as super sub-ohm builds.

I have been using a RSST with 400 mesh and 34 gauge Kanthal. My coil is about 3 full wraps for 1.5 ohms. Someone just gave me some 24 gauge Nichrome. Now I have heard Nichrome is generally lower resistance than Kanthal and the gauge he gave me is going to be much lower than the one i am using now.

I want to do a micro on my genesis tank, but I can't get the wick right. I'm using cotton. has anyone done mesh? and just left a gap around the wick hole (because the wick would be tiny with the microcoil)

JD1 Vaping Master ECF Veteran

Another thing to experiment with is folding a piece of your 34 ga in the middle and wrapping the two wires side be side as if it was one wire, and as close spaced as possible. Take the wick out and wrap directly on the wick, sort of folding, pushing the wire around the wick.

There's big improvements in adding wraps bro, especially when their micro diameter (1/16" or slightly less) and wrapped so their touching each other (or as close as humanly possible). Micro coils have been taking over the RBA / RDA scene for the last 6 months or so.

I know, got the wire from a guy so though I'd try it but I hear you on the amount of wraps. I have a Provari and a mech with a safety fuse. Gotta check this thing with a meter carefully. Happy to hear this is at least on the right track with more wraps.
